NEF Basketball was started by dad and coach Shayne after realising how few opportunities local children had to play. The idea was simple: create somewhere young people could experience, enjoy and fall in love with basketball.
Today, our coaches welcome beginners and developing players across Cupar, Tayport and St Andrews—building skills, confidence and friendships along the way.

Shayne.
PE teacher, experienced youth coach and the founder of North East Fife Basketball.
I started NEF Basketball after realising how few opportunities there were for children to play locally. As a dad, I wanted somewhere my own boys—and other young people across the area—could experience, enjoy and fall in love with the game.
I've spent more than a decade coaching children and young people across different sports, alongside over five years working as a PE teacher. My approach is simple: sessions should be active, welcoming and enjoyable, with lots of chances to play, make decisions and grow in confidence.

Does my child need basketball experience?+
Not at all. Beginners are always welcome and our coaches adapt activities so every player can take part and progress.
What should they bring?+
Comfortable sports clothes, indoor trainers and a water bottle. We provide the basketballs and equipment.
Can we try before joining a block?+
Yes. Use our booking page to choose the most suitable session and register for a trial.
What if I'm unsure about the age group?+
Send us a message. We'll consider age, experience, confidence and where friends play to help you choose.
